Alexander Valley Cellars' roots are based in the rich, agricultural history of Alexander Valley, and the strength of our family ownership.

For 30 years, three generations of the Dahlgren family have worked hard to build a wine storage and transportation business based on a commitment to Sonoma County’s wines, and the type of customer service that can only come from knowing that your customers are also your neighbors, and that your success depends on theirs.

Since Alexander Valley Cellars opened in 1985, and was subsequently purchased by Marc Dahlgren, our company name has been a tribute to the remarkable wine-growing region which is both home to world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, and three generations of the Dahlgren family. Our name, Alexander Valley Cellars, is a daily reminder of the special place that inspired and launched our business.

Living among his winery customers, Marc knew it was imperative to offer dependable wine storage and transportation, and to offer responsive customer service, all of which depend on an outstanding team of employees. Today his children, Meritt Dahlgren and Marci Jacobs, and many of his original employees’ children, proudly continue the family tradition of hard work, innovation, integrity, and community service with organizations like the Healdsburg Future Farmers Country Fair and CYO Basketball.

Our close, long-term relationships with customers have enabled us to grow our storage over ten times --from 20,000 square feet to nearly 400,000 square feet – with the support of employees and customers who have stayed with us for decades. We have nurtured relationships with some of our customers for two generations, and more than half of our customers have been with Alexander Valley Cellars for 10 years or more.

Over time we have expanded our services in response to our customers’ needs to include direct to consumer wine club shipping, online inventory access and reporting, and a range of new special projects for our winery customers. We have also taken steps to accommodate the specialized needs of a range of still and sparkling wines, including brandy, grappa, plus microbrews and ciders.
